BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

REV. DR. ALBERT L. COLE
REVEREND ALBERT L. COLE is a native of Humboldt, Tennessee and the second child of six children born to the late Mr. Jessie Lee Cole and Mrs. Alberta Cole of Humboldt, TN. Rev. Cole is married to the former Linda C. Woods of Humboldt, TN and they are the proud parents of two children: Tiffani and Greg and grandparents of five: Jasmine, Jadynn, twins - Kylen and Kevon, and Nicholas.
REVEREND ALBERT L. COLE accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of nine at St. James Baptist Church in Humboldt, TN. He attended the public schools there and graduated from Stigall High in 1969. Rev. Cole attended Lane College in Jackson, TN and earned a Bachelors of Science degree in 1972. He earned a Masters Degree from the University of Louisville in 1977. He also did graduate work at Western Kentucky University and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Having served as a middle school teacher, assistant principal and principal for over 30 years, Rev. Cole has a passion for education and believes that learning is a life-long process.
REVEREND ALBERT L. COLE has been serious about the Lord's work since his childhood. Whenever the church doors were open at the St. James Baptist Church, he could always be found serving in some capacity in the Lord's service. Rev. Cole accepted the call into the ministry in August, 1978 and preached his first sermon at First Trinity Baptist Church, Jeffersonville, IN. He has served as Minister of Christian Education at Shiloh Baptist Church and First Virginia Avenue Baptist (Louisville). He is the former pastor of St. James United Methodist Church (Jeffersonville) and Ebenezer United Methodist Church (Madison). He also served as Interim Pastor at Wesley United Methodist Church (Jeffersonville) and R.E. Jones United Methodist Church (Louisville). In May, 2002, Rev. Cole was obedient to God's call in starting the New Progressive Baptist Church with seven members, which has presently grown to around 109 members. As founder and pastor of this congregation, Rev. Cole provided leadership in purchasing three acres of land in June, 2003, and erecting our new worship facility at 4712 Middle Road. By the grace of God and faith in Him, the congregation celebrated their first worship service in the new facility on Sunday, September 26, 2004.
REVEREND ALBERT L. COLE is a member of several local and national organizations and has received many recognitions and awards to include an Olympic Torchbearer in 1996 and again in 2002. Since May, 2005, Rev. Cole has been invited to deliver the invocation for Indiana University Southeast Commencement Ceremony. May, 2015, marks the tenth consecutive year. On October 10, 2010, Rev. Cole was presented an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from Saint Thomas Christian College in Jacksonville, Florida.
REVEREND ALBERT L. COLE has a great love for people, especially children, and is always encouraging them to strive to be all that God would have them to be. Rev. Cole is a leader, self-motivator, and most of all he loves the Lord.
